The Township of St. Clair is a rural subdivision of Lambton County. A warm and welcoming municipality of approximately 15,000 people, the township sits along the edge of the St. Clair River, just south of Sarnia. Its peaceful countryside full of parks and trails—including the 35km St. Clair River Trail—draw many to the area, and it is an ideal location for those who prefer small community living in southern Ontario. The Township of St. Clair consists of dozens of friendly communities such as Corunna, Sombra, Brigden, Mooretown, and Port Lambton, and many more.

One of the benefits to living in the Township of St. Clair is its convenient location. Like many other cities and towns within the Sarnia-Lambton region, the township is within proximity to other amenities, urban communities, and points of interest. In as little as 15 to 20 minutes, locals can arrive at the Canada-U.S. border and cross over to Michigan for a fun day trip, or commute to Sarnia for work or play. The sandy beaches of Lake Huron are also within short driving distance, and for those seeking the excitement and adventure of a larger urban metropolis, the cities of London and Toronto are 1.5 and 3.5 hours away, respectively. In short, the convenient location allows locals to have the best of what rural and urban living can offer.

Like many other regions in southern Ontario, the Township of St. Clair is also a community that’s full of heritage with many historical points of interest. Some communities even have a local museum where people can go and learn more about the community’s history. For instance, the Moore Museum in Mooretown provides a sneak peek into the region’s past through its heritage village that includes historic exhibits such as a one-room schoolhouse, Victorian cottage, railroad station, caboose, and firehall as well as many other displays. 

Aside from being a region that’s full of history and conveniently located, the Township of St. Clair is ultimately an amazing place to raise a family in. With affordable housing prices found in the area, it’s possible to buy a beautiful home within one of the township’s numerous communities or find a quiet acreage with lots of space for an appealing price. Locals don’t have to travel too far to send their children to school as there are several primary and secondary schools located within the township. And in terms of basic amenities, the township helps locals connect and stay engaged with the rest of the community by offering them access to a recreational center that comes equipped with a pool and skating area, a beautiful golf course, and tons of campgrounds.

No matter the community, the Township of St. Clair is a wonderful municipality that offers all the great things Lambton County’s countryside has to offer!
